Thing #4: Prezi

Well here we are up to thing #4.  Prezi.

I can't say that I like this.  I'm one of those people that can't read in a car while it's moving, or I tend to get sick.  I get the same feeling when viewing prezi.
The first one I viewed was "Thoughts of Using Prezi as a Teaching Tool."

http://prezi.com/rfsnedhqmhqa/thoughts-on-using-prezi-as-a-teaching-tool/

Way too much zooming in and out!  I was almost sea sick!  Howerever, some info and advice was informative.  Such as "Be careful when using zoom and move functionality.  It may get your student's attention initially, but over use and all you will so is make them sick."  As I said before, this is what happened to me.  I love the quote in the last section of this Prezi.  "The movement and zooming has not helped me communicate and I have probably annoyed you."  Amen to that!!!

The second one I viewed was "Playing To Learn Math."

This one was set up as a board game and did not have so much zooming in and out.  I could actually get through the entire prezi without feeling sick.  I actually enjoyed the format and the design was simple.  This one wan't bad.

What Libraries Could Use Twitter For

Twitter

ASU Library is already using twitter.  We have used it as a way to communicate to others, events and news that is happening in the library and on campus. Latest news includes our 2010 Student Employee READ  posters, the Kindle Reader Pilot Project, and our new digital sign above our Reference Desk.  Last winter when classes were cancelled, we used twitter to get the word out.  More and more library's will be using this in the future,  as it has already become a popular means to communicate.

Thing #2

  1. Here is the #2 thing.  (I'm technology challanged, so pleases bear with me)

I chose five feeds for this assignment:

  • Librarians Guide to Etiquette:
        http://libetiquette.blogspot.com/

I chose this site as it shows a humorous side of working in a
library which I can certainly relate to.  And we can all use a laugh or
two to get through the day.
  • Life Just Keeps Getting Weirder:
        lifejustkeepsgettingweirder.blogspot.com

Weird is fun to watch and read about.
  • Southeast Camper:
        http://ww.secamper.com/

I chose this as my husband and I go camping and he is really in to
dutch oven cooking.  (which means I don't cook when we go camping,
and since he cooked, he gets to do the clean up.  I'm SO glad I got him
the set of cast iron cookware for Christmas!)
  •  Unshelved
         http://www.unshelved.com/

I was sent this link from a librarian where I work.  It contains
a comic strip each day about libraries and librarians.  Some are really
          funny.

  • 23 Things

I subscribed to this site because Scott Rice said it was required to
         finish thing #2.

23 Thiings: #1

For my Blog, I chose a camping one:
http://campingearth.com/blog/

I chose this one as I love to go camping  and this Blog contains helpful information and tips.  I especially like the camping recipes, as my husband enjoys dutch oven and campfire cooking.  The food turns out delicious and I don't have to cook!
